That’s why I’ve prepared this list of my top 5 social media sites. It is one answer to the dilemma of how to  separate the strands of the useful and helpful from the inconsequential and unreliable within the swirling cloud of information that is the Internet in the 2010s.Are you reading a reputable source? Is the information you’re reading current, or at least based on the latest available data? How do you know? This can be a little overwhelming, but the worst thing you could do is bury your head in the sand and hope it will all become more manageable with no further input from you! That is why these top 5 social media sites are so important.Nobody who is serious about using social media, can afford to ignore questions such as I’ve raised above. Digital is here. And digitisation will continue into the future. Millennials and younger generations are digital natives who have never known a world without IT. This is the site that I find the most useful. I check it every day to keep up to speed with the latest developments in social media news.2. TwitterImage Source:  TwitterAs a source and disseminator of news, Twitter  has few equals, due to its search and curation functions. Twitter enables you to search for specific terms, by keyword, @-symbol or hashtag, or, through its Lists function allows you to curate your own stream of content curated from the sources, social influencers and other experts in social media news that you find most reliable. The latter are an amazing way to organise the people you follow, or even people that you don’t want to follow but simply want to keep tabs on. As a bonus, your Lists can either be public (sharing is a great way to become a social media influencer yourself) or private (which is handy if you are compiling a list of your competitors!).3.
