My Top 5 Social Media Sites for Trends News
My Top 5 Social Media Sites for Trends News My Top 5 Social Media Sites for Trends News Image Source: PixabayStaying up to date with the social media world is no easy task. Where do you start? Thatâs why Iâve prepared this list of my top 5 social media sites. It is one answer to the dilemma of how to separate the strands of the useful and helpful from the inconsequential and unreliable within the swirling cloud of information that is the Internet in the 2010s.Are you reading a reputable source? Is the information youâre reading current, or at least based on the latest available data? How do you know? This can be a little overwhelming, but the worst thing you could do is bury your head in the sand and hope it will all become more manageable with no further input from you! That is why these top 5 social media sites are so important.Nobody who is serious about using social media, can afford to ignore questions such as Iâve raised above. Digital is here. And digitisation will continue into the future. Millennials and younger generations are digital natives who have never known a world without IT. These generations will continue to use and develop technology, regardless of whether older generations are on board. So, itâs imperative that we all keep up with the latest goings-on in the social media world. Staying on top of social media news will ensure that your company or organisation is up to date and in touch with the current times and trends, and the people who embody and occupy them. But how do we do that? By tapping into the most verifiably reliable sites and apps, and these are what I regard as the top 5 social media sites. But before we get into the specialist sites, here is a tip. Get a Google Alert set up!Image Source: GoogleGoogle has one of the simplest and longest established information filters on the internet in Google Alerts, which have been around for the best part of two decades. Thereâs a good reason for that. Theyâre incredibly useful. All you have to do is set up a Google Alert, in this case for the keyword social medi a, and Google will send all the latest content on that keyword directly to the inbox of an email address that you choose, however frequently you wish to receive it (hourly, daily, etc). Google Alerts are simplicity itself, requiring only the designation of a keyword and an email address. Your only other input is to actually read the articles! My Top 5 Social Media Sites for Trends NewsSo without further ado, here is my list of the top 5 social media sites for staying up to date with the latest news and trends about social media. Every day, I absorb pretty much all the information I need about social media from any one or all of these sites or applicationsâ"Feedly; Twitter, especially its Lists function; Hubspot; Wersm; and Social Media Examiner1. FeedlyImage Source: FeedlyFeedly is a site that pulls together content on any topic that you sign up for (such as Social Media), and separates it into handy folders that you can scroll through at your leisure. This is the site that I find the most useful. I check it every day to keep up to speed with the latest developments in social media news.2. TwitterImage Source: TwitterAs a source and disseminator of news, Twitter has few equals, due to its search and curation functions. Twitter enables you to search for specific terms, by keyword, @-symbol or hashtag, or, through its Lists function allows you to curate your own stream of content curated from the sources, social influencers and other experts in social media news that you find most reliable. The latter are an amazing way to organise the people you follow, or even people that you donât want to follow but simply want to keep tabs on. As a bonus, your Lists can either be public (sharing is a great way to become a social media influencer yourself) or private (which is handy if you are compiling a list of your competitors!).3. HubspotImage Source: HubspotHubspot blog is another reputable source, with some really well researched social media news content. H ubspot also has many other blogs on other topics relating to marketing and sales, so for anyone in the marketing game, itâs a great website to bookmark. As a bonus, they also run free training courses, so itâs a brilliant site for the beginner.4. WersmImage Source: wersmI only recently discovered Wersm (thats an acronym for we are social media), and so far Iâve found it to be an accessible, reliable source of information and content related to social media. With a goal to âempower people around the world to make the best out of social media in their everyday lifeâ, Wersm filters its content on different social media platforms into categories, which is very handy if you just wanted to look up the latest news on, say, Instagram, without having to scroll through reams of information on all the other platforms.5. Social Media ExaminerImage Source: Social Media ExaminerThe mission of Social Media Examiner is âto help you navigate the constantly changing social media jun gleâ. A truer mission statement it would be very difficult to find. The Social Media Examiner posts are super easy to understand, with everything laid out and presented in plain language. And if youâre a visual person, this will probably be your most appealing source, as the blog has an incredibly cute jungle theme! Conclusion Get at least 1 of these top 5 social media sites dailySo there you have it. Now its over to you. I would recommended starting with at least 1 of these top 5 social media sites daily, or at least set up a daily Google Alert for social media (or the particular aspect of social media thats of interest to you). I hope these are helpful in providing you with the social media news and insights that you need. Good luck out there!
